Year in Review: Men's Golf

The Edgewood College men's golf team competed in their final year under head coach Gary Oftedahl in 2022-23. The Eagles put together a strong schedule in the fall, competing in six events including the first two rounds of the NACC Championships. The Eagles also hosted two events, the Culver's Edgewood College Fall Classic and the Edgewood College Invitational in the spring. 

 

The Eagles wrapped up their fall season at the NACC Championships. They posted a strong two-rounds of 614 to comfortably sit in second place heading into the spring. The team took advantage of the spring, placing top five in five of six opportunities. They opened the spring season finishing fifth of 11 (625) at the Monmouth Fighting Scots Invite. They added a second place finish (1233) in the NACC Championships on April 23 and 24 where Jake Schroeckenthaler and Kasen Fager finished fifth and sixth earning All-NACC.

Jake Schroeckenthaler led the team, earning All-Region honors, All-NACC, and was named NACC student-athlete of the week five times. The fifth-year also fired off his career-low round of 66, six under par, winning the Wisconsin Lutheran College Spring Invitational and tying Patrick Cahill for the Eagles individual low 18-hole score. 

 

Noah Anderson, Ryan Beck, Kasen Fager, Raymond Jordan, Sean Murray, Jake Schroeckenthaler, and Jeromy Toutant all earned NACC Scholar-Athlete recognition.

NACC Championships

 

On October 10 the Eagles wrapped up the first two rounds of the NACC Championships at Blackwolf Run Meadows Valley Golf Course in Kohler, Wisconsin. Kasen Fager showed experience and poise, carding a two-round total of 147 (75-72), good for fourth place going into the spring. Schroeckenthaler also sat in the top-10, finishing in a tie for sixth place with a total of 151 (75-76). The Eagles pulled away from St. Norbert in round two and trailed eventual NACC Champion Aurora by 28 strokes. 

In the final two rounds the Eagles maintained their lead over third place finisher St. Norbert College (1281). Rounds three and four took place in Aurora, Illinois. Edgewood College finished in second with a total score of 1233. Beck and Schroeckenthaler hung onto their top-10 spots and earned All-NACC.
