WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Baseball team dropped a pair of non-conference games Wednesday at Carroll University. The Edgewood College offense continued to struggle on the road, falling 9-4 in the opener and 4-0 in the nightcap.
PIONEERS 9, EAGLES 4
- Edgewood College (17-19) scored first in the non-conference contest. An RBI single from Kyle Semrad in the top of the first inning plated Kyle Sagan. In the net at-bat, Adam Cairo singled to center field, scoring Joseph Kalafut from third base. The Eagles took a 2-0 lead into bottom of the first inning.
- Carroll University (17-21) strung together some timely hits and took advantage of some miscues from the Eagles defense to score two in the bottom of the first inning, tying things up. The Pioneers continued to roll into the second inning, shutting down the Eagles at the plate and scoring five runs in the second frame.
- Carroll tacked on one run in the fourth inning and sixth inning for a 9-2 lead. Edgewood College came up to plate in the seventh and final inning looking for a late comeback. The Eagles scored two runs, first a run off a double from Carson Richter. The Eagles fourth run of the game came off a single from Alex Prindle, but it wasn't enough to down the Pioneers.
- Richter led the Eagles at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, run, and RBI. Kalafut added a 2-for-3 performance with a run scored. Daniel Bentivegna knocked a double for the Eagles.
- Five pitchers took the mound for the Eagles, with starter Will Mossa taking the loss with 1.2 innings pitched and 11 hits. Brevin Brisack recorded the lone strikeout for the Eagles, going one inning pitched and allowing no hits.
PIONEERS 4, EAGLES 0
- The Eagles bats struggled in the nightcap, only recording two hits, one each from Connor Goodwin and Kalafut. Kalafut knocked a double in the top of the fourth inning.
- Carroll scored two runs in the third inning, tacking on runs in the fifth and sixth frames for the 4-0 final. In all, the Pioneers recorded five hits in game two.
- Ryan Mixey took the loss for Edgewood College, recording five strikeouts and scattering two hits through two innings pitched. Dominica Rizzotto took the mound for one inning, striking out one and allowing no hits. Nick Holland took the mound for the sixth and final inning of defense for the Eagles. Holland struck out three and allowed just one hit.

- Edgewood College will host their final home doubleheader of the season on Friday. The Eagles will celebrate Veteran's Appreciation Day as well as LSM Chiropractic Senior Day in a conference doubleheader vs Lakeland University. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. from Stampfl Field.
