VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Baseball team faced a difficult test on Sunday, heading to No. 20 Aurora University. The Spartans lived up to its billing by sweeping the Eagles 18-3 and 14-4, both seven inning contests.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The fourth inning of game one was one to forget for Edgewood College (17-15, 8-10 NACC). Aurora University (26-7, 15-3 NACC) scored 11 times, all earned. The Spartans added a run in the fifth and sixth inning.
- Edgewood College would score three times in the top of the fourth frame of game one, as Ryan Ambrosy scored two on a single to right field and Alex Prindle knocked an RBI single to center field. In all, Prindle and Joseph Kalafut paced the Eagles at the plate in game one, each collecting two hits.
- Jack Fisher secured the win for Aurora, striking out five and scattering five hits. Nick Manthei pitched 2.2 innings for the Eagles, striking out four.
- In game two, the Eagles went up 1-0 after the top of the first, but Aurora scored once in the second inning and four times in the third inning to take a 5-2 lead. Edgewood College would score once in the fifth and once in the seventh but it wasn't enough to hold off the Spartans bats. Through six innings the Spartans built a 13-1 lead and held on for the 14-4 final.
- Nick Malmberg earned the win for Aurora, pitching all seven innings and striking out five. Kyle Semrad got the start for Edgewood College, pitching 4.1 innings and striking out five Spartans.
- Connor Goodwin led the Edgewood College bats with a 2-for-3 game. Goodwin added two runs and a double. Prindle and Kyle Sagan each knocked doubles.
- The Aurora offense was unstoppable in game two, recording 17 hits, four doubles, one triple, and two home runs.

- The Eagles will host St. Norbert College in a NACC twinbill on Monday. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m from Stampfl Field.
