Softball Winning Streak Snapped by No. 16 Falcons

VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Softball team faced its toughest test of the season Wednesday, hosting a NACC doubleheader against No. 16 Concordia University Wisconsin. The nationally ranked Falcons were too much for the Eagles, winning the two contests by scores of 12-1 and 18-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles (11-11, 4-2 NACC) trailed 4-1 in the opener heading into the fifth inning but that's when the Falcons (14-1, 2-0 NACC) bats came alive. CUW scored four runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to secure the 12-1 win in six in the opener.

- Jess Pozezinski was a problem for the Eagles all day as the Falcons first basemen went 3-for-3 with two home runs and five RBIs in the opener. The Eagles managed just three hits against Falcons ace Gina Followell, who struck out 11 in the complete-game effort.

- Grace Pustina threw five innings in the opener, while Tatum Duff added an inning of work.

- Pozezinski continued her strong day in game two, driving in six more runs, including a grand slam. Taylor Kuske went 3-for-3 with four RBI, while Claudia Utz added five RBI in an 18-2 route for the Falcons.

- Jenna Sanchez paced the Eagles offense with a 2-for-3 performance in game two. Nicki Becker worked four innings for the Falcons, picking up the win.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will visit Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday for a NACC doubleheader starting at noon.
