STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Tennis team fell to UW-Stevens Point on Sunday morning. The Eagles began the day with wins in two-of-three doubles matches, but five wins in singles play from the Pointers was too much, resulting in a 6-3 final.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cecile Fuchs led the way for Edgewood College (9-5) on Sunday, earning wins a No. 1 singles and doubles. Fuchs began the day with an 8-7 (7-2) tiebreak win at No. 1 doubles with partner Jewel Lindwall. Her second win of the day would come in the No. 1 singles slot, with a convincing 6-2, 6-0 final.
- The Eagles other win of the day came in the No. 2 doubles slot, as Ellie Murphy and Maddy Coopmans earned an 8-6 victory over Chloe Leithold and Grace Henes of UW-Stevens Point (17-3).
- Edgewood College went into singles play with a 2-1 lead, but the Pointers would go on to earn the victory with five straight wins in singles play. Jordan Scharf only dropped one game, earning a 6-0, 6-1 win over Alina Tweet. Barbara Covek, Jenna Koepp, Chloe Leithold, and Kaylee Woelfel each earned singles wins for UW-Stevens Point.
