Bentivegna walk off against Pioneers in non-conference action

VERONA, Wis. – With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning Daniel Bentivegna confidently walked up to the plate at Stampfl Field and knocked a single through the right side of the Carroll University defense to plate Cooper Holewinski on a walk-off single. The Eagles rallied for the 6-5 non-conference victory in extra-innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Down 5-0 after five and half innings, the Edgewood College (17-13) offense got going in the bottom of the sixth frame. Kalafut plated the first run, scoring Adam Cairo on a single through the right side.

- The Eagles would tack on three more runs in the eighth inning. Connor Goodwin knocked double down the left field line, scoring Kalafut, Kyle Sagan, and Alex Prindle, and coming within one of the Pioneers. The Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With two outs Prindle scored Connor Zagrodnik off a double to left field, sending the game into extra innings.

- Kalafut went 3-for-4 for the Eagles offense, adding a run and RBI. Prindle added three hits, a run, and an RBI. Seven other Eagles added a hit, as the offense compiled 13 hits. Max Hoeser added a triple, while Prindle, Kalafut (2), Goodwin, and Kyle Semrad all knocked doubles.

- 10 different players pitched for Edgewood College, all combining for 12 strikeouts. Ben Collier, Eric Nelson, Kyle Jungers, and Kalafut each collected two strikeouts. Nick Holland earned the win for the Eagles, striking out one, and only allowing two hits in the final inning.

UP NEXT
Edgewood College will host St. Norbert College on Saturday. The Eagles will celebrate LSM Chiropractic Senior Day. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. from Stampfl Field.
