VERONA, Wis. – Despite taking a 6-0 lead in the first inning of game one and recording ten or more hits in each game, the Edgewood College Softball team dropped to conference games to #16 MSOE on Tuesday. The Eagles fell 9-7, in the opener before dropping the second contest 12-3.
MSOE 9, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 7 (GAME ONE)
- Edgewood College (19-17, 12-8 NACC) did not fear the nationally ranked Raiders pitching staff, scoring a whopping six runs in the first inning. With two outs, the Eagles batters notched six hits, two doubles, to score take a 6-0 lead. Haylee Kasuboski got things going with a single up the middle to score Kya Loffswold for the Eagles first run of the game.
- The Eagles then went on to hold MSOE (20-4, 13-3 NACC) scoreless through the first three innings, as Tatum Duff recorded two strikeouts and the Eagles defense gobbled up every ball in sight.
- MSOE would add four runs in the fourth frame, scoring on timely singles into the Eagles outfield. The Raiders added three runs in the sixth inning to take a 7-6 lead.
- Edgewood College responded quickly, as Loffswold's single to left field drove in Elizabeth Malarski from third base. Unfortunately, the Raiders scored two more runs in the top of the seventh inning, taking advantage of a miscue from the Eagles defense.
- Malarski, Loffswold, and Ott each went 2-for-4. Malarski scored two runs, while Ott notched 2 RBI and a run. Ott and Sanchez both knocked doubles for the Eagles.
- Tatum Duff pitched another complete game, striking out three Raiders. Kennedy Lehn pitched 6.1 innings for the Raiders and picked up the win, striking out nine batters.
MSOE 12, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 3 (GAME TWO)
- In game two MSOE scored first, and added runs in the third, fourth, fifth and seventh innings. Edgewood College finally got on the board in the fifth inning, but three runs weren't enough to hold off the Raiders bats. MSOE took a 7-3 lead into the seventh inning, as their offense exploded, scoring five runs in the final frame of the night.
- The MSOE pitching held the Eagles from adding to their three runs. Sarah Grossman and Kennedy Lehn combined for nine strikeouts, three and six, respectively.
- Malarski went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Olivia Hebert, Alyse Maurer, and Sanchez each notched two hits for the Eagles.

- Edgewood College will visit St. Norbert College for a conference doubleheader on Saturday, April 30. First pitch is set for noon in De Pere, Wis.
