BELOIT, Wis. – Behind a career-high pitching performance from Ryan Mixey and a whopping 14 hits, the Edgewood College Baseball team defeated Beloit College in non-conference action on Tuesday. Tim Kelly and Jackson DeChristina added career-best performances in the 10-4 victory.
EAGLES 10, BUCCANEERS 4
- After three scoreless innings to start the game, Edgewood College (16-13) got rolling in the top of the fourth by pushing across one run. Max Hoeser started the scoring with an RBI double, plating Jackson DeChristina.
- Beloit College (13-18) got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, scoring two. The Eagles would responded quickly, adding two runs in the fifth on a two RBI single from Tim Kelly. Edgewood College would tack on five runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by an RBI single from Kyle Sagan and a two RBI double from Kelly.
- The Buccaneers would add two runs in the sixth frame, but it wasn't enough to threaten the Eagles 8-4 lead. In fact, Edgewood College wanted insurance, plating two more runs in the seventh inning.
- Kelly led the Eagles bats with a career-high three hits and five RBIs. DeChristina added a career-best three hits. Hoeser, Daniel Bentivegna, and Alex Prindle each added 2 hits. DeChristina was locked in on the base paths, recording three stolen bases, a career-best.
- Ryan Mixey recorded his first win as an Eagle, striking out a career-best seven Bucs and scattering three hits. Will Mossa threw four innings, striking out two.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles and Buccaneers were playing for the fifth time overall. The Eagles now hold a 3-2 lead in the series.
