Eagles Sweep Sabres in Sunday Doubleheader

FOND DU LAC, Wis.Tatum Duff tossed a gem in the opener and the Edgewood College Softball bats were right behind her, resulting in another NACC sweep for the Eagles on Sunday. Edgewood College went on the road to Marian University and took two from the Sabres, a 3-2 extra inning game-one win followed by a 2-1 victory in game two.

EAGLES 3, SABRES 2 – 8 INNINGS (GAME ONE)
- Duff threw her 13th complete game of the season, and sixth over her last eight starts, in leading the Eagles to the game one win. The freshman left-hander scattered five hits and struck out a career-high 10, while issuing two walks in her 11th win of the season.

- Marian University (11-16, 6-10 NACC) scored first in the bottom of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. Edgewood College (19-15, 12-6 NACC) got on the board in the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, a single down the left field line off the bat of Elizabeth Malarski scored Kya Loffswold.

- Both the Eagles and Sabres would score runs in the fifth inning, leaving the score tied at two. Edgewood College aimed to take the lead in the seventh inning, but with runners at second and third a double play from the Sabres would end the Eagles hopes.

- In the eighth inning Grace Ott got things going for the Eagles, knocking a double to center field. Just one at bat later, Jenna Sanchez plated pinch runner Aryiah Schuh from second to score the Eagles third and winning run.

EAGLES 2, SABRES 1 (GAME TWO)
- In the second contest Edgewood College scored runs in the third and fourth frame to take a 2-0 lead. The Eagles first run would come as a result of a perfectly placed sacrifice bunt from Loffswold to plate Duff. In the fourth frame, a single from Ott would score Lauren Hillmann from third base.

- Mackenzie Doherty was on fire for the Eagles at the plate, going 3-for-3 and knocking a double. Duff, Sanchez, Ott, and Olivia Hebert each recorded a hit for Edgewood College.

- Duff earned her 12th win of the season, pitching five innings and only allowing three hits. Elizabeth Malarski came on in relief and earned the save through two innings pitched.
