MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Tennis team battled Loras College on Friday afternoon. The Eagles began the match with wins in two-of-three doubles matches, but couldn't carry that momentum over to singles play, resulting in a 5-4 Duhawks victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The No. 1 doubles team of Cecile Fuchs and Ally Verbauwhede and the No. 2 duo of Maddy Coopmans and Madelyn Connaughty picked up wins to help the Eagles start the afternoon with a 2-1 advantage. Fuchs and Verbauwhede rolled to an 8-3 win, while Coopmans and Connaughty picked up the 8-4 victory for Edgewood College (10-6).
- Loras College (10-6) won 4-of-6 in singles play to rally for the 5-4 victory. Fuchs earned her second win of the night with an easy 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles.
- The other singles win came from Coopmans in the No. 3 slot. She posted a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) tie-break win over Caroline Hutchinson of Loras for her second win of the day.
