Ott’s home run leads Eagles to extra inning victory, split with Cougars

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Eagles home run leader, Grace Ott helped the Eagles to another win via home run for the second time this week. Edgewood College split their conference doubleheader on Saturday, taking game one in eight innings by a score of 3-2, and dropping the second contest 3-2. Ott and Olivia Hebert both notched home runs on Saturday.

EAGLES 3, COUGARS 2 – 8 INNINGS
- Edgewood College (14-14, 7-5 NACC) scored first in the opener, as a double from Grace Ott in the top of the second inning set up a sacrifice fly from Jenna Sanchez, scoring Lauren Hillmann from third. The Eagles lead held through the third inning before Concordia Chicago (11-9, 5-2 NACC) tied things up in the bottom of the fourth inning.

- The Eagles immediately responded with a run in the top of the fifth frame. A single to left field off the bat of Kya Loffswold, scoring Mackenzie Doherty from third base. The Cougars would again tie things up in the bottom of the sixth inning.

- In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Eagles turned their third double-play of the game to send the game into extra innings, tied a two.

- With one out in the top of the eighth frame, Ott stepped up to the plate and launched her second game winning home run of the week.

- Olivia Hebert went 3-for-4 for the Eagles with a double. Ott, Loffswold, and Elizabeth Malarski each recorded two hits. Tatum Duff recorded her 11th complete game for the Eagles. Duff notched two strikeouts and allowed one earned run.   

COUGARS 3, EAGLES 2
- Concordia Chicago took their first lead of the day early, scoring one run in the first inning, a home run off the bat of Becky Pieroni. The Eagles would score two in the third inning, first a homerun off the bat of Olivia Hebert. Later in the inning Alyse Maurer scored on a wild pitch after reaching base on a walk.

- In the bottom of the fourth inning Concordia Chicago took advantage of miscues from the Eagles to score the tying run. A double from Hailey Howard scored the winning run for the Cougars.

- Grace Pustina led the Eagles at the plate and on the mound, going 2-for-3, adding a strikeout, and only walking one Cougar in six innings pitched. Hebert went 2-for-4 with a run and RBI.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will take one day off before hosting MSOE in a conference doubleheader on Monday. Action from Ceniti Park will begin at 4:00 p.m.
