Eagles Split NACC Twinbill at Dominican

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – The Edgewood College Baseball team ran its winning streak to five games in game one of Sunday's doubleheader at Dominican University, but ultimately settled for a split after dropping game two. The Eagles used a three-run seventh to secure an 8-5 win in the opener before Dominican rallied with a five-run eighth in a 5-2 final in the nightcap.

EAGLES 8, STARS 5
- Edgewood College (13-7, 6-2 NACC) took a 5-0 lead after three innings in the opener thanks to a three-run first and two more in the third inning. Adam Cairo started the scoring with an RBI triple, while Joseph Kalafut drove in runs in both the first and third innings.

- Dominican (12-9, 4-4 NACC) tied the game up after scoring two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth, but the Eagles responded with a three-run seventh. Kalafut gave Edgewood College the lead back with a two-RBI double, plating Cairo and Kyle Sagan. Alex Prindle then drove in Kalafut to make the score 8-5 in favor of Edgewood College.

- Will Mossa picked up the win, throwing two scoreless relief frames for the Eagles. Conner Dunfee earned his fourth save of the season with a scoreless ninth. Kyle Semrad got the start for Edgewood College, throwing five innings and allowing three runs, one earned. Nick Holland also tossed one inning for the Eagles.

- The top of the Eagles lineup did most of the damage as the first four batters (Connor Goodwin, Cairo, Sagan, and Kalafut) combined for the eight runs. Cairo was 3-for-5 with a triple and three runs scored, while Kalafut went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Goodwin was 2-for-5 from the leadoff spot and Sagan went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Alex Prindle finished the game 2-for-5 with two RBI.

- Matt Galdi paced the Stars with a 3-for-5, two-RBI performance.

STARS 5, EAGLES 2
- The Eagles appeared on their way to a sweep as they led 2-0 until the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when Dominican plated five runs to steal game two, 5-2.

- Goodwin continued his strong play with a 2-for-4 game, scoring both the Eagles runs. Sagan singled in Goodwin in the third and Cairo drove him in in the fifth.

- Grayson Downing drove in two runs with a single in the eighth inning to tie the game for the Stars. Downing then scored the go-ahead run on and RBI single by Brandon Diedrich.
