Eagles Split Doubleheader with Falcons Friday

MINNEAPOLIS – The Edgewood College Softball team traded comeback wins with UW-River Falls in a doubleheader at the Auggie Dome Games on Friday afternoon. The Eagles rallied for a 6-4 win in extra innings in the opener before UW-River Falls returned the favor with an 8-7 comeback win in game two.

EAGLES 6, FALCONS 4 (GAME ONE)
- Olivia Hebert was the star of the opener for the Eagles (3-3) as she finished the game 4-for-4 with a double, triple, and two RBI. Hebert gave the Eagles the lead in the top of the eighth with a two-out, two-run single, plating Kya Loffswold and Mackenzie Doherty.

- Edgewood College trailed 4-2 entering the top of the seventh but were able to rally for two runs thanks to RBI singles by Elizabeth Malarski and Lauren Ludvigsen.

- Tatum Duff went the distance in the circle, striking out seven over her eight innings of work. Juliana Reynolds also went the distance for UW-River Falls (1-3), recording five strikeouts.

- The Eagles led 2-0 after scoring runs in the first and third innings before the Falcons responded with three in the bottom of the third. UW-River Falls would add a run in the fifth, taking the 4-2 lead into the seventh before the Eagles began their comeback.

- In addition to Hebert's big game, Loffswold and Ludvigsen each collected two hits for Edgewood College. Loffswold also finished with two runs scored.

FALCONS 8, EAGLES 7 (GAME TWO)
- The Falcons returned the favor in game two, scoring five times in the top of the seventh to stun Edgewood College with an 8-7 final. The Eagles built a 7-1 lead after the bottom of the first, but UW-River Falls started chipping away with runs in the third and fifth innings before the five-run seventh.

- Edgewood College totaled seven hits in the first inning en route to scoring the seven runs, but would only manage two hits the rest of the way. Loffswold paced the team with a 3-for-4 performance.

- Grace Pustina threw 6.1 innings for the Eagles before handing the ball off to Ludvigsen for the final two outs in the seventh. Lindsey Duggan turned in a gem for UW-River Falls as she recorded all 21 outs after replacing the Falcons starter in the first inning. Duggan was not charged with a run allowed and struck out four in her seven innings of work.

- Hebert continued her solid day at the plate with an RBI double in the first inning. Keegan Piton paced the Falcons with a 3-for-4 game, doubling twice and belting a two-run home run in the seventh. She drove in four throughout the game.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will play two more tomorrow against host Augsburg College. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Note, UW-River Falls and Crown will play a doubleheader before the Eagles and Auggies do battle, so the start time could change.
