CLERMONT, Fla. – The Edgewood College Softball team dropped a pair of games on its final day in Florida, falling against both the University of Southern Maine and New York University. The Eagles finished their spring trip with a 3-5 record after 10-1 (Southern Maine) and 11-3 (New York) setbacks on Friday.
SOUTHERN MAINE 10, EAGLES 1 (F/6)
- The day started against the Huskies (3-6) and Edgewood College (7-9) found itself in an early hole in that contest. Madison Day roped a two-RBI double in the first inning for the Huskies, while Hannah Shields drove in two with a double in the second.
- The Eagles lone run came in the bottom of the third courtesy of a solo home run off the bat
Olivia Hebert. It was the first career collegiate home run for the Eagles catcher.
- The top of the Huskies order proved to be a problem for the Eagles as the first four batters combined for six hits and scored nine of the 10 Southern Maine runs. Kaitlyn Nelson led the way with three hits, while scoring three times.
- In addition to Hebert's home run, the Eagles were paced by
Kya Loffswold. She tallied two hits.

Lauren Ludvigsen took the loss for the Eagles after pitching the first inning.

- The Eagles plated two runs in the top of the fifth to delay the eight-run rule, but New York pushed across two more for the 11-3 final.
- Kalena Paredes proved to be a tough out for the Eagles in game two as she went 4-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and three runs scored. Sophia Leon added three hits and scored twice from the top of the Violets order.
- The Eagles had seven players finish with one hit each.
Jenna Sanchez,
