LEESBURG, Fla. – The Edgewood College Softball team opened up its spring trip with a contest against Geneseo on Saturday evening at Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex. The Knights were able to take the Eagles by a 7-3 final.

- Geneseo (1-0) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as Leah VanDerwarker opened the game with a triple to spark the rally. Edgewood College (4-5) would answer in the bottom of the second with two ones, one of those scored on an RBI single by
Grace Ott. Ott finished the game 2-for-2 to pace the Eagles at the plate.
- The Knights scored four-straight runs to break the game opening, plating one in the third and fourth and two in the top of the fifth. Edgewood College got within three in the bottom of the sixth as
Lauren Ludvigsen drove in
Jenna Sanchez but Geneseo added an insurance run in the top of the seventh for the 7-3 final.
- The Eagles managed just five hits in their first game outdoors this season. The Eagles first eight games were played at dome tournaments in the Midwest.
- Lauren Kersch tossed a complete game for Geneseo in earning the win, allowing three runs, two earned, while striking out six.
Tatum Duff went the distance for Edgewood College as she struck out four.
- Geneseo hit four triples as a team, two from Taylor Riccardi. Riccardi finished 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Kersch helped herself out at the plate as well with three hits and three RBI.

- The Eagles will take on a fellow Wisconsin school tomorrow morning in Florida. It will be a quick turnaround, and even quicker with daylight savings time in effect as first pitch is set for 9:30 a.m. eastern, or 8:30 central.
