FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Edgewood College Men's Basketball team went on the road for the final time in the NACC regular season on Saturday evening, visiting Marian University for a NACC match. The host Sabres jumped out to a 43-25 lead and never looked back, dealing the Eagles an 88-72 setback.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marian University (12-7, 8-6 NACC) went on a 12-3 run through the final eight minutes of action in the first half before taking a 46-30 lead into the break.
- Edgewood College (8-12, 7-6 NACC) couldn't match the three-point shooting of the Sabres through either half of action. The Eagles making just 5-of-18 from beyond the arc in comparison to 12-of-27 from Marian.
- The Eagles would go on a 10-0 run that reduced the Sabres lead to just 12 with 14:26 left in the second half. Unfortunately, Marian responded by knocking down a flurry of points, as well as five three-pointers down the stretch.
- Eli Hartjes and Jake Schroeckenthaler each added 15 point. Harjtes would pull down 10 rebounds for a double-double. Adam Baierl added nine points and a career-high nine rebounds.
- Edgewood College shot 40.9 percent (27-for-66) from the floor and 27.8 percent (5-for-18) from 3-point range. Marian connected on 44.4 percent (12-for-27) from long range and 48.6 percent (35-for-72) from the floor.
THE OPPOSITION
- Delvin Barnstable led the Sabres with a strong 22 point showing on Saturday. Nick Brakebush, Tyler Gouin, and David Britton each scored in double-digits in the win. Scott Paulus notched eight rebounds and four assists.
