EAGLES 84, FALCONS 70
- The Eagles (10-12, 9-6 NACC) were within a few points of one another for much of the second half. After CUW got within two at 42-40 with 16:46 left in the game, the next 10 minutes featured no team leading by more than three points. Edgewood College led 60-57 with 7:27 left before going on a 7-1 run to take a 67-58 advantage with 4:43 left.
Adam Baierl hit a 3-point shot during the 7-1 stretch.
- The Falcons (11-10, 10-6 NACC) wouldn't get any closer than seven the rest of the way, as the Eagles pulled away for their ninth-straight home win. Edgewood College lost its home opener to now No. 3 UW-Oshkosh back in November and have won the past nine, eight of those conference games.
- Lyons put on a show on senior day, scoring 25 points, which tied a career high. He had 18 of those in the first half, the second-straight game he has scored 18 before the break. His playmaking was just as good Saturday as he dished out eight assists, while turning the ball over just twice. He added six rebounds and a steal for the best all-around game of his career. Lyons went 9-of-10 from the foul line, including several makes down the stretch to help the Eagles secure the win.
- The Eagles frontcourt of
Eli Hartjes and
Jake Schroeckenthaler posted their usual production on Saturday. Hartjes scored 22 points, going 8-of-13 from the floor, while adding seven rebounds. Schroeckenthaler posted his NACC-leading 13th double-double by scoring 21 points and adding a tied for game-high 15 rebounds.
- Brandon Keller led Concordia Wisconsin with 20 points, while adding 15 rebounds of his own. The Eagles held the NACC's leading scorer, Jordan Johnson, to 11 points on 4-of-14 shooting.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Saturday's results only tightened what must be the closest conference race in any division across the country. After Saturday, the top nine teams in the NACC are tied in the loss column with six league setbacks. Wisconsin Lutheran, Marian, St. Norbert, CUW, and Benedictine are tied at 10-6, while the Eagles, Concordia Chicago, and Illinois Tech ate 9-6 and Rockford is 8-6. Most teams have just one conference game remaining as not everyone will finish with the same number of games, but a lot will be determined from the last day in regular season play.
- The Eagles celebrated three seniors before Saturday's win. Lyons, Hartjes, and
Anthony Janega Jr. were honored before the game for their contributions to the program over the past four years.
UP NEXT
- The Eagles will host Aurora in the regular season finale on Wednesday night. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m. inside the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
