Eagles Blow Past Regents for first NACC Win of the Season

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team put together a massive 81-29 win over Rockford University on Wednesday evening. The Eagles couldn't be stopped on either side of the ball, earning their first NACC win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (2-6, 1-2 NACC) got off to a quick 20-7 lead through the first period. The Eagles connected on 9-of-19 (47 percent) from the floor. Rockford University (0-7, 0-3 NACC) only managed seven points through the first ten minutes.

- The Regents would score 11 points in the second period, the only time they managed double-digit scoring in the contest. The Eagles knocked down 19 points and headed into halftime with a 21-point (39-18) lead.

- The Eagles solid team game continued through the break, as Edgewood College only allowed the Regents to score six points in the third frame and five points in the fourth. Overall, the Eagles defense held the Regents to just 15.3 percent shooting from the floor and 6.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

- The Eagles knocked down a whopping 60 points in the paint on Wednesday. 14 players managed to score in the victory, with 44 of the Eagles points coming off the bench. Edgewood College ended the game with 57.4 percent shooting from the floor, their best of the year.

- The Edgewood College offense never let up. The Eagles saw their best shooting percentage of 70.59 (12-of-17) come in the third period. Their second-best shooting percentage of the game (57.14) game in the fourth period.

- Paige Banks and Claudia Fieiras led the Edgewood College attack with 13 points each. Fieiras was incredibly efficient, connecting on 6-of-7 from the floor and 1-of-2 from the charity stripe.

- Vivian Guerrero led the rebounding game with 15 boards. Kenzie Senffner and Fieiras also added to the rebounding with seven each. Kate Gunderson shared the ball well, dishing out four assists in the win.

- On the evening, every Edgewood College player available saw time on the floor. 15 players contributed to 57 boards, 14 contributed to 81 points, and 14 different players combined for 24 assists.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles dominated defensive rebounds on Wednesday, recording 59 total rebounds, 54 of which were defensive. Their 59 rebounds are tied for fourth most rebounds in single game history.

- The Eagles shooting percentage of 57.4 is tied for fifth best in single game history. The best shooting percentage in a game came for the Eagles on February 9, 2019 against the Regents. On that day the Eagles knocked down 41-of-68 shots and recorded a 60.3 shooting percentage.

- Fieiras knocked down a career-best 13 points and was dominant from short range.

- Kayla Miotk (6 points), Samantha Brady (4 points), Auto Thomas (4 points), and Grace Vesperman (3 points) each recorded career-best scoring in the win.

THE OPPOSITION
- Audrina Terhune led the Regents offense with eight points (3-of-10). Katie Paredes managed a team-high eight rebounds.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will play their final NACC contest of 2022 on Saturday, December 10. Edgewood College will host Alverno College at 2:00 p.m. from the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
