ANGOLA, Ind. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team earned their first victory of the season at the Trine University Cameron Hospital Classic on Saturday. The Eagles defeated Olivet College 76-39 in non-conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (1-3) took a 12-3 lead halfway through the first period and never looked back. Through the first period, the Eagles led Olivet College (0-3) 23-8. Edgewood College extended their lead to 23 (35-12) at halftime. The Edgewood College defense played well and provided many offensive opportunities in the second period, as they only allowed four points from the Comets.
- The Eagles recorded 20 or more points in the final two quarters, shooting a game-high 64.29 (9-of-14) percent from the floor in the third quarter and 55.56 (10-of-18) percent in the final ten minutes of action.
- Banks and Bonser led the Eagles attack with 11 points each. Bonser only missed one shot the whole game, going 5-of-6 from the floor and connecting on her one shot from three-point range. Bonser also dished out two assists and pulled down two rebounds. Kallie Norby notched nine shots for the Eagles and pulled down five rebounds. Kenzie Senffner dished out a career-best seven assists.
- Edgewood College recorded a season-high 52.4 percent shooting. 39 of the Eagles 76 points came off the bench, and the Eagles scored 44 points in the paint.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- This was the first meeting between Olivet College and Edgewood College.
- Ava Berg recorded a career-best six points. Kayla Miotk scored the first two points as an Eagle.
THE OPPOSITION
- Lily Connelly and Megan Mauney each recorded eight points for the Comets. Julia Decker led Olivet with five rebounds and four steals.
