VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team suffered a 5-1 setback against Concordia University Wisconsin on Wednesday night. On the coldest afternoon of the season, the Eagles celebrated their senior manager Laney Garrels.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin (8-3-4, 5-2-3 NACC) took a 2-0 lead into halftime thanks to a score in the 31st minute from Carson Kelly and a goal in the 42nd minute from Will King. The Edgewood College (1-13-1, 1-9-0 NACC) did well to hold back the Falcons offense in the first 45 minutes. The Falcons took 11 shots in the first half.
- The Falcons would extend their lead to 5-0 thanks to second-half scores from Alex Labastida (57:20), Nick Hummell (69:46), and Sam Butterfield (88:48).
- Edgewood College finally got on the board in the final minute of action, as Kennedy Wallace connected off a corner kick. Jonathan Alfaro recorded the assist on the Eagles goal.
- Concordia Wisconsin outshot Edgewood College 25-10 in the contest. The Eagles had some good looks early on as Wesley Meshenky led the attack with four shots, one on goal. Will Thesing added three shots, one on goal.
- Jack Gentner recorded six saves for Edgewood College. Jonathan Wind came into goal in the final 27 minutes, recording one save.
- Edgewood College celebrated their manager Laney Garrels as she finishes up her fourth year with the team this season.
