VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team struggled to find their offensive spark on Saturday afternoon, falling to Illinois Tech 5-0. The Scarlet Hawks earn another NACC win, sitting just behind the Eagles in conference standings, while snapping the Eagles seven-match winning streak.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It didn't take Illinois Tech (12-2-2, 6-1-2 NACC) long to score, as they raced down the field at the starting whistle and netted the first goal just 13 seconds into the match. Claudia Marti Fanlo netted her first of four goal on the afternoon, assisted by Kayla Smith. It didn't' take Marti Fanlo long to find the back of the net again, as she gave the Scarlet Hawks a 2-0 lead in the eighth minute. Illinois Tech's second goal was assisted by Amelia Moseman. The 2-0 lead would hold through the end of the first half, as Edgewood College (11-2-1, 7-1-1 NACC) spent the majority of the first 45 minutes playing defense, only taking one shot.
- Illinois Tech poured on three more goals in the second half, as Gabriella Baltes notched goal number three in the 50th minute. Marti Fanlo would secure the hat trick in the 64th minute and put things out of reach for the Eagles in the 69th minute with her fourth score of the afternoon.
- Edgewood College was outshot 24-3 on the afternoon, with no shots on goal. Lauren Clark got off two shots for the Eagles, while Greta Blau recorded one of her own.
- Hailey Corcoran recorded four saves in goal through 45 minutes, while Kailey Adamski got the start and recorded three saves in the first half.
