MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Eagles women's tennis played their final match of their fall slate Friday evening. They stayed home for a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) matchup with St. Norbert College. The Eagles (7-4, 7-1 NACC) took down the Green Knights (4-8, 4-4) in 9-0 fashion.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College dominated doubles, with
Cecile Fuchs and
Ellie Murphy winning 8-1 in top billing.
Maddy Coopmans and
Jewel Lindwall followed it up with an 8-3 win in no. 2 doubles, then
Christina Ekkela and Taylor Evelyn completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 victory at no. 3.
- Fuchs dropped one point in her 6-0, 6-1 victory in no. 1 doubles, before Murphy clinched the match at the third slot 6-0, 6-0.
- Lindwall staved off a second-set push to win her singles matchup 6-0, 6-4. Taylor posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory in no. 4 singles.
- Coopmans and Ekkela finished the 9-0 victory with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at no. 5 singles and a 6-2, 6-2 victory in no. 6 singles respectively.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles are now 7-5 against the Green Knights and have won five straight
- Edgewood College finished second in the conference standings.
- All seven of the Eagles victories in the fall came by 9-0 margins against NACC opponents.
