Eagles erupt for six goals in rout of Muskies

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team erupted for six goals in a 6-0 shutout over Lakeland University Wednesday evening. The Eagles extended their winning streak to seven games, scoring twice in the first half and adding four more scores after the break for a dominant conference victory. Four different Eagles found the back of the net in a win that clinched a spot in the NACC tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Greta Blau led the way with two goals and one assist, scoring back-to-back goals in the second half. Blau first struck in the 59th minute, for fourth Edgewood College (11-1-1, 7-0-1 NACC) goal. Just over a minute later she beat out three defenders to give the Eagles a 5-0 lead.

- Siobhan Gallagher scored the first goal for Edgewood College just 5:44 into the match. Gallagher's first goal of the season came from a free kick near midfield. Lauren Clark added the next two goals for the Eagles. Her first, a header from point blank range, assisted by Daniella Reyes. Clark's second goal and the Eagles third goal of the night came in the 57th minute, assisted by Blau.

- Lauryn Nachreiner was the fourth Eagle of the night to score, adding the final goal in the 75th minute from 15 yards out.

- 12 different Eagles recorded a shot in the contest, led by Blau and Gallagher with five and four, respectively. Edgewood College easily outshot Lakeland (4-10-0, 1-8-0 NACC) 23-3. Lakeland recorded just one shot on goal, which went down as a save for Hailey Corcoran.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The six goals are the most for Edgewood College this season and since last October. On October 8, 2021 Edgewood College defeated Maranatha Baptist 10-0.

- Clark's two goals are a career-high performance. Her other two goals came against Benedictine and UW-Superior.

- Blau's two goals is not only a career-best, but goes down as the seventh-straight contest in which the freshman has scored a goal. Blau leads the team with 10 goals on the season.

- 11-1-1 is the best start to a season since 2007 when the Eagles went 11-1.

- With four regular season matches remaining, the Eagles have clinched a spot in the NACC Tournament. The last time the Eagles made an appearance in post-season play was during the 2020 shortened COVID-19 season.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will look to continue their winning streak as they host Illinois Tech on Saturday. Action from Edgewood College Field at Reddan Park is set for 2:30 p.m.
