VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's soccer team continued to roll past NACC opponents, taking down Aurora University 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles earned their fifth-straight win, to improve to 5-0-1 in conference play. Two early goals were all the Eagles needed for the victory, as they showed most of their control in the first half of play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (8-1-1, 5-0-1 NACC) wasted no time getting on the board, as Greta Blau notched her sixth goal of season in the 14th minute.
- Just ten minutes later Rylee Brotz would find the back of the net on a picture-perfect pass from Blau. Brotz scored the Eagles second goal via header.
- The Eagles would hold off the Spartans attack well in the second half. Aurora (4-4-3, 3-3-0 NACC) took six shots in the second half, double their three shots in the first half.
- The Eagles outshot the Spartans 13-9, and also took a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal.
- Blau led Edgewood College with six shots, three on goal. Brotz added three shots of her own, while Mandy Fitzgerald, Lauren Clark, Sierra Connell, and Lauryn Nachreiner also recorded shots in the victory.
- Hailey Corcoran got the start in goal for the Eagles and split time with Kailey Adamski, who recorded two saves in the second half.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Blau has scored in four-straight contests for Edgewood College and leads the team with six goals on the season.
- Edgewood College has now recorded seven shutout wins on the season, not including their 1-0 forfeit win over Alverno. On the season, the Eagles have only allowed four goals and only one in conference play.
