Eagles hold off Stars for Fourth-Straight NACC Victory

MADISON, Wis. - The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team earned their fourth-straight NACC win on Tuesday after defeating Dominican University 68-53. The Eagles earned the victory behind a career-high double-double from Vivian Guerrero and a double-digit scoring effort from Diamond Pikulyk.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Guerrero was dominant on Tuesday, leading Edgewood College (4-10, 4-3 NACC) with a career-high 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting. The freshman tied her career-best rebounding performance pulling down 11 for the Eagles through 32 minutes of action for her third double-double of the season.

- The Eagles struggled to contain the Dominican University (2-13, 1-8 NACC) three-point shooting through the first 10 minutes of action. The Stars knocked down 4-of-7 from beyond the arc and shot 53.3 percent (8-for-15) from the floor.

- Edgewood College finally found their rhythm on defense in the second period and knocked down the Dominican to just one point (30-29) going into halftime. The Eagles managed 40 percent shooting in the second period and saw Guerrero, Pikulyk, and Mady Pahl make key plays from in the paint to take their best scoring run.

- The Eagles came strong out of the break, taking the lead just three minutes into the third period and never looking back. 61.5 percent (8-of-13) shooting from the Eagles in the fourth period helped the Eagles to a double-digit lead at three points throughout the final ten minutes of action.

- Defensively the Eagles held the Stars to just eight makes from beyond the arc in the final 20 minutes of action. Dominican only connected on four points on the paint through the entire contest. In contrast, the Eagles scored 48 points in the paint for the victory.

- Diamond Pikulyk collected her ninth double-digit scoring performance of the season with ease. The senior scored 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor and added five rebounds.

- Eden Bonser added strong shooting for the Eagles, knocking down 4-of-7 from the floor and adding seven rebounds. Emma Klein was consistent all around for the Eagles, knocking down seven points, pulling down five rebounds, and dishing out four assists. Lexi Walter added six rebounds in the victory.

- Edgewood College dominated with their speed on Tuesday, scoring 12 fast break points while Dominican scored none.

THE OPPOSITION
- Mackenzie Coleman was strong offensively for the Stars, knocking down a team-high 17 points on 8-of-15 shooting. Alisha Markley added 10 points and four assists.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College now takes a 20-9 advantage over Dominican University in all-time games played. The Eagles have won three-straight against the Stars.

- The Eagles will travel to Lakeland University on Saturday, January 22 for another NACC match. Action from Woltzen Gymnasium in Plymouth, Wis. is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
