Palmer's goal helps Eagles play to draw with Buccaneers

VERONA, Wis.Kristen Palmer scored in the 83rd minute for the Edgewood College Women's Soccer team as the Eagles played to an action packed 2-2 draw with Beloit College Wednesday evening. The Palmer goal was an equalizer as the Buccaneers struck late in the first half and early in the second half in the non-conference tie.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Beloit College (0-0-2) struck first with just under a minute left in the first period. Gracie Gasmann converted a pass from Sydney Hukin in the top corner of the box to give the Buccaneers a 1-0 lead going into the break.

- Lauryn Nachreiner scored the Eagles first goal in the 50th minute of action, converting a penalty kick. Nachreiner's equalizer goes down as her first collegiate goal.

- In the 57th minute Beloit struck again, as Makenna Downing narrowly missed the goal post and sent the ball into the upper right-hand corner of the net for a 2-1 advantage.

- Palmer, who subbed into the match just prior to scoring, provided a huge spark off the bench for the Eagles. She took advantage of a perfectly place ball from Marley Satran to tie the game up at 2 a piece with just under seven minutes remaining in regulation.

- Mackenzie Jones and the Eagles defense stayed strong the rest of the match, keeping the Buccaneers off the board. Jones, making her second career start, finished the match with a career-high 15 saves.

- Edgewood College, despite being outshot 30-10, made the most of their offensive chances as eight of the 10 shots were on goal. Beloit finished the match with 17 of their 30 shots on goal. Grace Wildeboer led the Eagles with three shots, while Siobhan Gallagher added two shots of her own.
