SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Edgewood College Women's Soccer team battled UW-Superior into double overtime Sunday in non-conference action. Despite scoring just three minutes into action, the Eagles couldn't hold off the Yellowjackets offense as they scored the game winner with just under one-minute left in the second overtime period to take the 2-1 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (0-4-1) saw their offense connect right out of the gate. Carolyn Evers found the back of the net off a pass from Marley Satran in the third minute, to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead.
- UW-Superior (2-2) responded just 18 minutes later, as Claire Smith scored the tying goal in the 22nd minute.
- Despite strong offensive opportunities for both teams, neither team found a way to score through regulation. The Yellowjackets winning goal came with just 56 seconds remaining in the second overtime session by Niya Wilson. Wilson led all UW-Superior players with three shots, while Annah Schussman, Ava Giswold, Claire Smith, Lindrey Schendel, and Allison Alessi each added two shots on the afternoon.
- The Eagles outshot the Yellowjackets 23-16 with 10 shots on goal. In addition, Edgewood College dominated the offensive game in the first overtime period, managing a 6-0 advantage over UW-Superior. Evers led all Eagles with five shots, three on goal. Siobhan Gallagher wasn't far behind with three shots, while Ashley Price, Mandy Fitzgerald, and Emma El-Beri added two shots each.
- Mackenzie Jones collected four saves for the Eagles while Jenna Lang pulled in seven saves for the Yellowjackets and Morgan Philliber notched two.

- The Eagles will begin conference action on Wednesday at MSOE. The NACC contest is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. from Viets Field in Milwaukee, Wis.
