WAUKESHA, Wis. – Senior Tyler Nelson scored in the 59th minute, but two early goals from Carroll University was too much as the Edgewood College Men's Soccer team lost to the Pioneers, 3-1 on Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Carroll University (3-1) got things going half way through the first half, scoring two goals six minutes apart. The Pioneers first goal came in the 24th minute as Ethan Pequignot scored unassisted. Julius Marks would convert a pass from Brenden Shiroda in the 30th minute, giving the Pioneers a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
- Edgewood College (0-3) finally found the back of the net in the 59th minute, as Nelson scored his first goal of the season to bring the game within reach.
- With just over one-minute remaining in the contest Ryan Coughlin scored the Pioneers third and final goal to solidify the 3-1 victory for Carroll.
- The Eagles were outshot 34-6 in the contest, with just three shots on goal. Nelson led the Eagles with three shots, while Jonathan Gamez, Noah Mesdjian, and Brian Root each added a shot of their own.
- Goalkeeper Jack Gentner made 12 saves in his second start as an Eagle, the most of his career.
