WHEATON, Ill. – The Edgewood College Women's Tennis team continues to challenge itself against some of the top competition in the region early in the 2021-22 season. The Eagles battled Wheaton College on Friday evening, falling 8-1 against the Thunder.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Cecile Fuchs provided the win on Friday for Edgewood College from the No. 1 singles position. Fuchs, a sophomore who has lost just once in singles play in her collegiate career, netted a 7-6, 6-2 win in her match on Friday.
- The rest of the contests went in favor of the Thunder.
Ally Verbauwhede nearly gained a win at No. 3 singles, but fell 11-9 in the third-set tiebreaker. She won her opening set 7-6, before dropping the second 6-7 in a very tightly contested match. Wheaton won the other four singles matches in straight sets.
- Verbauwhede and Fuchs also had a good battle at No. 1 doubles, before falling 8-6.

- The Eagles will look to bounce back tomorrow with a match against Lake Forest College at 10 a.m. in Wheaton, Illinois.
