VERONA, Wis. – Leah Doucette broke a 1-1 tie in the 56th minute, helping the Edgewood College Women's Soccer team to a Wednesday night Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference win over Wisconsin Lutheran College. The win was the second-straight for the Eagles as they continue to climb the league standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (2-6-1, 2-2-0 NACC) was outshot in the match, 24-8, but made its shots count with a goal in each half. Doucette's game-winner came in the 56th minute as
Hailey Corcoran and the Eagles defense held strong the rest of the way to preserve the one-goal lead.
- Corcoran came into the match after halftime and stopped all three shots on goal she faced in the second half. Her perfect second half secured her first career collegiate win.
Mackenzie Jones got the start for the Eagles. Jones did allow one goal but also made six first-half saves to keep the Eagles tied heading into the break.
- Wisconsin Lutheran (1-9-0, 0-5-0 NACC) struck first with a goal in the 13th minute from Miriam Carreno. Carol Bedolla assisted on the Warrior's score from 15 yards out.

Ashley Price scored her third goal in the last two matches to tie the score for Edgewood College. Price struck with her right foot, scoring in the bottom right post for a 1-1 tie.
- Doucette's game-winner came just three minutes after she received the only card of the night, a yellow card in the 53rd minute.
- Sierra Kannas made one save for Wisconsin Lutheran. Price led the Eagles with two shots, including the one on goal in the first half.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The win was actually the third-straight that will count in the NACC standings for Edgewood College. The Eagles match against Alverno College was ruled a no contest last Saturday and while it won't go on the Eagles official record, Edgewood College will have one win added for standings purposes. As of this writing, the Eagles are now in sixth place in the league standings.
