Eagles Comeback Effort Falls Just Short in NACC Setback

VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Men's Soccer team faced a three-goal deficit at halftime of Wednesday night's Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match against Wisconsin Lutheran College. The Eagles would strike twice in the second half but their comeback effort fell just short, resulting in a 4-3 final at Edgewood College Field at Reddan Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tyler Nelson scored the final goal for the Eagles (0-7-0, 0-4-0 NACC) in the 88th minute, bringing them within a goal. Edgewood College would get one more shot on goal over the final 2:08, but the Warriors (5-5-0, 3-2-0 NACC) turned it away to hold on for the one-goal win.

- A 1:19 stretch in the opening half was the difference in the contest. Wisconsin Lutheran scored three times from the 30:45 mark to the 32:04 mark to go up 4-1. Jason Cano tallied two of the goals and assisted on the other goal during the stretch. John Fossum scored the goal Cano had the helper on.

- The comeback effort started in the 70th minute when Brian Root struck for the Eagles, bringing them within two. Sal Genco had the Eagles lone goal in the first half, scored in the 13th minute off a Noah Mesdjian assist.

- Genco's score made it 1-1 at the time as the Warriors had the first goal of the night, an 11th minute strike from Jesus Altamirano. Ben Meaux assisted on the Warriors first score of the match.
