Regents Edge Eagles in Wednesday Night NACC Battle

VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Men's Soccer team battled Rockford University in a closely-contested NACC match on Wednesday night. Tyler Nelson scored on a penalty kick in the 64th minute for the Eagles to tie the match at 1-1, but Rockford would score nine minutes later for a 2-1 final in full time.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- There was plenty of drama from the start on Wednesday evening. Rockford (4-3-0, 2-0-0 NACC) tallied the only goal of the first half, but the Regents did have one taken away early as well on an offsides call. Simeon Adesina scored for the Regents in the first half, striking in the 25th minute off a find by Mauricio Flores.

- The Eagles (0-6-0, 0-3-0 NACC) put the pressure on in the second half and it resulted with Nelson drawing a penalty in the box in the 64th minute. He converted the PK, fooling the Regents keeper and easily scoring on the left side for the 1-1 score.

- Rockford answered in the 73rd minute as Miguel Gallardo was in the right place at the right time. Rockford applied pressure and Javier Palacios ripped a shot that hit the crossbar and bounced up into the air where Eagles keeper Jack Gentner was able to punch it out. Unfortunately for the Eagles, that ended up being right to Gallardo who was there waiting and he placed it perfectly in the top left corner for a 2-1 advantage.

- The Eagles had chances down the stretch, hitting the crossbar once and having one goal called off via a penalty. Edgewood College showed its fight to the very end, but the Regents were able to escape with the league win.

- Nelson was all over the pitch and ended the match with a team-best seven shots. Edgewood College was outshot, 27-17, but just 8-7 in terms of shots on goal. Both Gentner and the Regents' Maverick Attwood made six saves for the evening.
