Eagles Continue NACC Dominance in Sweep over Sabres

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Tennis team posted another easy NACC win on Saturday. The Eagles went on the road to visit Marian University and took care of the Sabres quickly with a 9-0 victory to extend their NACC regular season winning streak to 33 matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (3-4, 3-0 NACC) dropped just three points in three doubles wins to open things up. All three wins were convincing, but the most dominant was the No. 2 duo of Alyssa Carew and Ellie Murphy who rolled to an 8-0 win.

- Cecile Fuchs and Ally Verbauwhede netted an 8-1 win at No. 1 singles and Maddy Coopmans and Maeryn Shepherd secured an 8-2 win in their No. 3 doubles match.

- Fuchs was the first to finish in singles play, not dropping a point in a 6-0, 6-0 decision. Her doubles teammate, Verbauwhede, posted the same score in her No. 3 singles matches, while Murphy also did not surrender a point in her 6-0, 6-0 No. 4 singles win.

- Coopmans and Carew each added to their day with another win in singles play. Coopmans went 6-2, 6-1 in her No. 5 singles bout, while Carew posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles.

- Callie Belschner got the nod in the No. 6 singles spot in the lineup and gained a 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (10-4) victory to complete the 9-0 victory for Edgewood College.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles own the third-longest regular winning streak in NACC Women's Tennis history. Edgewood College also holds the longest streak at 47 (2011-2015). Concordia University Wisconsin snapped that streak in 2015 and then held a 36-match winning streak until the Eagles snapped it in October of 2018.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will host Lakeland in a NACC match tomorrow morning at Quann Park. The action between the Muskies and Eagles is set to start at 10 a.m.
