WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Tennis team opened its 2021-22 season with a challenge at UW-Whitewater on Wednesday. The Eagles would fall to the Warhawks, 8-1, in the non-conference bout.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Maddy Coopmans was the lone Eagle to pick up a victory on Wednesday as she won in straight sets in her No. 6 singles match. Coopmans posted a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Sarah Ferguson.
- The night began with a sweep in doubles play for the Warhawks. At No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, the final was 8-3 in favor of UW-Whitewater.
Cecile Fuchs and
Ally Verbauwhede were the Eagles No. 1 duo, while
Karina Manders and
Alyssa Carew were penciled into the lineup in the No. 3 position.
Ellie Murphy and Coopmans played at No. 2 doubles, falling 8-2.
- UW-Whitewater would win the other five singles matches in straight sets.
UP NEXT
- The Eagles will play a couple of matches in Wheaton, Illinois this weekend. The first of those will be against host Wheaton College at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
