Eagles Kick Off 2021 Season with Setback Against Foresters

VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Soccer team kicked off its 2021 season with a home match against Lake Forest College on Wednesday evening at Edgewood College Field at Reddan Park. The Eagles battled well against the Foresters but couldn't find the back of the net, resulting in a 2-0 setback in the 2021 opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (0-1-0) and Lake Forest College (1-0-0) each finished with 14 shots on Wednesday in a very event contest. The difference was Lake Forest was able to convert one chance in each half for the 2-0 final.

- The Foresters first score came in the 19th minute from Julia Larson. From inside the box, Larson beat Mackenzie Jones on the right side for her first score of the season. The second Foresters goal came in the second half on a penalty kick converted by Raven Dziedzinski.

- Jones made her first career start at keeper and played well with a five-save effort. Her counterpart, Maggie Kersting, ended the night with seven saves and finished with a clean sheet.

- Leah Doucette and Grace Wildeboer each tallied three shots for Edgewood College. All three of Doucette's were on goal, while two of Wildeboers found the keeper.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will head West this weekend for a couple of non-conference tilts in Spokane, Washington. The first of those will be against the University of Puget Sound on Saturday at 2 p.m. PDT. That match will be at 4 p.m. central time.
