Eagles Make Quick Work of Stars, Extend NACC Win Streak

MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Tennis team had little trouble with Dominican University in Wednesday's dual at Quann Park. The Eagles made quick work of the Stars, dropping just three games over the course of the afternoon. The win was the 28th-straight NACC regular season victory for Edgewood College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles (7-0, 6-0 NACC) won two matches by default on Wednesday as Dominican (1-6, 1-6 NACC) had just five players. To start things off, Edgewood College won both doubles matches played by 8-0 scores. Sydney Verbauwhede and Ellie Murphy occupied the No. 1 doubles position, while Alyssa Carew and Kinsey Kessel were slotted into the No. 2 doubles spot. Verbauwhede and Murphy have yet to lose as a pairing this season.
- Gigi Kuecker and Lydia Dean were put in the lineup as the No. 3 doubles team, winning by default.

- In singles play, the Eagles continued to roll as three-of-five matches played ended up 6-0, 6-0 finals. Sydney Verbauwhede remained unbeaten in singles matches this year with a 6-0, 6-0 No. 2 singles win, while Ally Verbauwhede posted a 6-0, 6-0 No. 3 singles victory. Dean had the other 6-0, 6-0 win in her No. 4 singles bout.

- Cecile Fuchs has yet to lose a collegiate match, continuing her 7-0 start to the season with a 6-1, 6-1 No. 1 singles victory. Maggie Burgmeier added a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles NACC regular season winning streak reached 28 matches with the 9-0 victory over Dominican.

- Edgewood College is now 6-0 in NACC play. The Eagles and Concordia Wisconsin (7-0) are both unbeaten in league matches. If Edgewood College takes down Alverno Friday afternoon, it would set up a matchup between NACC unbeatens on Saturday.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will host Alverno in a NACC dual on Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Quann Park.
