ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Edgewood College Softball team was swept by Rockford University for the second-straight day Sunday. The Eagles offense had a difficult time solving the Regents pitching Sunday, scoring just one run in each contest. Rockford took the opener, 4-1, before completing the sweep with an 8-1 win in the nightcap.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game one featured a strong pitching matchup between the Eagles
Analiese Glawe and the Regents Rylee Klema. Both pitchers went the distance with Glawe allowing just one earned run over six innings pitched to go along with four punchouts. Klema got the win, allowing one run over her seven innings in the circle.
- The lone error committed by the Eagles (9-27, 1-15 NACC South) came back to haunt them in the opener. With two outs in the bottom of the fifth and the game tied at 1-1, Edgewood College committed the error which kept the Regents inning alive. Rockford (19-13, 9-7 NACC South) would plate three runs, the last off a Destiny Kelsey triple, to go up 4-1.
- Glawe also highlighted the Eagles offense in the opener as her two-out RBI triple gave Edgewood College a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Six different Eagles collected hits in the game one, only Glawe's triple going for extra bases.
Emily Meyer scored on Glawe's triple.
- In game two, the Eagles trailed 3-1 after four innings before Rockford broke the game open with three runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth. Emily Cox had a big game at the plate for the Regents in the nightcap going 4-for-4 with a double, triple, and three RBI.

Jenna Sanchez went 2-for-3 to lead the Eagles offensively. Edgewood College had a difficult time against Mikayla Seay, who tossed a complete-game four-hitter.
Emily Bloomfield got the start for the Eagles, throwing four innings and allowing three earned runs. She struck out four.
