Softball bats heat up in sweep over Lakeland

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The Edgewood College Softball had its best offensive day of the year in Friday's non-conference twinbill at Lakeland. The Eagles scored a combined 22 runs and tallied a combined 27 hits in the doubleheader sweep of the Muskies. Edgewood College took the opener 10-3 before outslugging Lakeland, 12-9, in game two.

EAGLES 10, LAKELAND 3 – GAME ONE
- Edgewood College (9-15) wasted little time in getting going on Friday. The Eagles erupted for seven runs in the first inning, thanks in large part to a three-run home run by Emily Bloomfield. Bloomfield finished the opener with two hits and four RBI.

- As a team, the Eagles finished the game with 11 hits with four players recording multiple hits. Both Lauren Ludvigsen and Haylee Kasuboski collected three hits with Kasuboski doubling and Ludvigsen scoring two runs. Bloomfield and Hanna Fisher each added two hits for the Eagles.

- Ludvigsen picked up her second win in her last two starts in the circle, giving the Eagles a complete-game effort. She scattered 11 hits and struck out two, but did a great job of working out of trouble throughout the afternoon.

- Mackenzie Doherty added two runs scored for the Eagles in the seven-run game one win.

EAGLES 12, LAKELAND 9 – GAME TWO
- The Eagles continued the first-inning magic in game two with four more runs in the first in game two. Kasuboski roped a two-RBI double as the highlight of the first inning.

- Edgewood College would go up 8-0 by adding a run in the second and three more in the third. Lakeland would get back in it with a big inning of its own, plating five runs in the bottom of the third before tying the game with three runs in the bottom half of the fourth.

- The Eagles responded with three more runs in the fifth, taking the lead for good. Fisher recorded an RBI triple in the inning, while Jenna Sanchez delivered a run-scoring single.

- The three through five spots it the batting order carried the Eagles in game two in Sanchez, Bloomfield, and Kasuboski. Each player collected three hits and drove in two runs, while number six hitter Morgan Koss added two hits and two RBI. Sanchez hit two doubles in the game, while Bloomfield added a double and a triple. Fisher added a triple, while Kasuboski and Ludvigsen doubled in the win. Doherty added two hits for the Eagles.

- Analiese Glawe picked up the win by throwing 3.2 innings of relief, allowing just one run. She struck out five batters to help the Eagles secure the sweep. Bloomfield got the start, while Grace Pustina also worked in the circle in game two.
