VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Softball team faced off against two solid pitchers on Saturday in a league doubleheader at Ceniti Park. The Aurora University duo of Hannah Tomasko and Taylor Shaw held the Eagles to one run over two games as Aurora came away with the sweep, winning the opener 7-1 before an 8-0 final in game two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles (9-19, 1-7 NACC) managed seven hits over the twinbill, four in the first game against Tomasko.
Hanna Fisher had a triple in game one and
Haylee Kasuboski scored the Eagles run in the seventh inning.
-
Emily Bloomfield did a good job keeping the Eagles in the game, allowing just three runs through her first six innings. Bloomfield tired in the seventh and Aurora (23-3, 8-2 NACC) added four runs, two charged to Bloomfield and two to
Grace Pustina. The last three Spartans runs came via a three-run home run by Cassidy Rourke.
- Tomasko needed just 73 pitches in her complete-game victory. She struck out six batters to move her record to 13-1 on the season.
- In game two, the Spartans built a 2-0 lead in the second inning thanks to another home run by Rourke. That was all Shaw would need as she went the distance throwing six innings. Shaw struck out one and scattered three hits.
-
Lauren Ludvigsen got the start for the Eagles and allowed three earned through five innings.
Analiese Glawe pitched the sixth for Edgewood College.
- Kasuboski collected two of the three Eagles hits in game two, a pair of singles.
