WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Tennis team remained unbeaten during the 2021 season with a 6-3 win over Wisconsin Lutheran College on Wednesday. The Eagles won two in doubles play and took four-of-six in singles play for their fourth-straight win to open the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles (4-0, 3-0 NACC) were able to get their NACC regular season winning streak to 25 by starting the night off with a pair of doubles victories over three matches. The No. 1 duo of
Cecile Fuchs and
Ally Verbauwhede remained perfect on the year by posting an 8-4 win.
- The No. 2 duo of
Sydney Verbauwhede and
Ellie Murphy ran their record to 3-0 this season with a convincing 8-2 win. Both
Sydney Verbauwhede and Murphy won in singles play on Wednesday as well.
- Fuchs has yet to lose a collegiate match as she also moved her singles record to 4-0. She did not drop a game, rolling to a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Sydney Verbauwhede is also 4-0 in singles this year after a 6-3, 6-2 victory in her No. 2 singles bout. Her doubles partner Murphy moved her singles record to 3-1 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.

Lydia Dean is now 3-0 on the season after winning 6-2, 6-4 in her No. 5 singles match.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles NACC winning streak is at a quarter of a century as they haven't lost since the 2017-18 season. Edgewood College is 3-0 in NACC matches this year.
UP NEXT
- The Eagles will continue their current four-match road swing with a trip to Chicago to face Illinois Tech on Sunday. The NACC match is set for a 10 a.m. start.
