KOHLER, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Tennis team earned their first 9-0 victory of the season over Lakeland University on Saturday. The Eagles remain perfect on the season, earning their second conference victory. Five Eagles went 2-0 in the dominating victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In doubles play, the Eagles won three matches by a combined score of 28-4. The No. 1 duo of Cecile Fuchs and Ally Verbauwhede picked up an 8-2 win, while the No. 2 duo of Sydney Verbauwhede and Ellie Murphy rolled to an 8-0 victory. Alyssa Carew and Kinsey Kessel picked up the 8-2 victory in the No. 3 slot.
- Sydney Verbauwhede was impressive in singles play, picking up the 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 position.
- Three Eagles only dropped one game to the Muskies in their wins. Fuchs and Murphy won 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 1 and No. 4 spots, respectively. Maggie Burgmeier picked up her first win as an Eagles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
- Ally Verbauwhede picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles. Kinsey Kessel battled with Bobinah Cha for the Muskies and came out on top with a 6-1, 7-5 win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles now own a NACC regular season winning streak of 24. The last time the Eagles lost a conference contest was on September 16, 2017.
