MADISON, Alabama – The Edgewood College Baseball team dropped a pair of games against Piedmont College on Sunday at Toyota Field. The Eagles finished the weekend with a 1-3 record after falling against Lions by scores of 13-5 and 12-2. Edgewood College outhit Piedmont in both games, but the Eagles pitching stuff struggled with control and several free passes proved costly on Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Alex Prindle paced the Eagles offense in the opening game, going 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in the fifth inning. The two-run blast brought the Eagles within one at 4-3 in the top of the fifth. Prindle added a sacrifice fly later in the game, finishing with three RBI.
- Edgewood College (1-6) outhit Piedmont in the opener, 11-9, but walks did the Eagles in. Eagles pitchers issued 11 walks and hit three more batters. Piedmont took advantage with big innings in the third (3), fifth (3), sixth (2), and seventh (4) frames.

Adam Cairo had another strong game at the dish for the Eagles, going 4-for-5. Prindle and
Bryan Niznik each recorded two hits and Prindle scored twice.
- Piedmont was led by Carter Ballstadt in the opener as the outfielder went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBI. Sam Carpenter got the win on the mound by firing seven innings with nine strikeouts.
- In game two, the Eagles once again outhit the Lions, but the free passes again hurt Edgewood College. The Eagles issued 19 walks and hit one batter in the second contest.

Joseph Kalafut helped his own cause in the bottom of the third with a two-run blast, his second home run in as many days. That would be all for the Eagles offense as Piedmont scored the final 10 runs to win 12-2. Kalafut's home run tied the game at 2-2.

Connor Goodwin and
Jacob Slonim each added two hits for the Eagles offense in the second contest.
- Peyton Irvin picked up the win for Piedmont, giving up just two runs in six innings of work. The Lions pitchers issued zero free passes in game two.
