MONTGOMERY, Ill. – Despite taking advantage of the first inning, and scoring first in both contests, the Edgewood College Baseball team dropped two non-conference games to #13 Aurora University on Saturday. The Eagles fell 14-6, in the opener before dropping the second contest 5-2. Alex Prindle led the Eagles offense, with three hits and five runs batted in on the day. The Eagles pitchers struck out a total of 15 Spartans through both contests.
AURORA 14, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 6 (GAME ONE)
- Edgewood College (1-8) scored first, leading Aurora University (9-0) 2-0 going into the bottom of the first inning. Alex Prindle scored Joseph Kalafut on a double to right center to give the Eagles their first run of the game. Kyle Sagan then brough Prindle home, on a double to left field. The Spartans responded quickly, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first frame.
- The Eagles struggled to plate runs through the next five frames, as the Spartans added three more in the third, two in the fourth, and one each in the fifth and sixth inning for a lead of 14-2. Edgewood College got the bats going again in the seventh inning, scoring four runs in the top of the frame. Once again, Prindle found a gap in right center, scoring Adam Cairo, Maximo Alanis, and Brian Niznik. Sagan again scored Prindle on a single.
- Peyton Henry notched three strikeouts on the mound for the Eagles, through three innings. Will Mossa and Luke Goard each added two strikeouts of their own.
- Nick Malmberg picked up the win for Aurora University, throwing six innings. Malmberg struck out six and only allowed two earned runs.
AURORA 5, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 2 (GAME TWO)
- In game two the Eagles once again scored first, as the ever-consistent Prindle scored Kalafut on a single to left field. Edgewood College held on to their 1-0 lead until the bottom of the second frame when Aurora University scored four, taking a 4-1 lead. Both the Eagles and Spartans would add one more in the fourth frame, for the 5-2 final.
- The Spartans pitching held the Eagles from adding to their two runs. Carter Turnquist and Alec Strupp combined for 12 strikeouts, six each through five and three innings, respectively.
- Kalafut, Jacob Slonim, and Cooper Holewinski each added two hits for the Eagles.
- Eric Nelson pitched a strong four innings for the Eagles, striking out five and only allowing two hits. Nick Holland added 3.2 innings for Edgewood College.

- Edgewood College will visit Dominican University for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, March 24. First pitch is set for noon.
