MINNEAPOLIS – The Edgewood College Softball team had a quick turnaround after
sweeping Augsburg College last night, playing two games early this morning against Bethel University. The Eagles dropped both of those contests, falling 15-7 in the opener and 8-0 in game two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles (4-4) took a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the third inning in game, but that is when the Bethel offense got rolling. The Royals scored four times in the third to tie the game, eight times in the fourth, and three times in the fifth to end the contest via the eight-run rule.
-
Lauren Ludvigsen smacked her first career collegiate home run for Edgewood College with a three-run shot in the top of the third. Ludvigsen would add a double and finished the game 2-for-3 with four RBI to lead the Edgewood College offense. Hannah Fisher added two hits and scored three times, while
Mackenzie Doherty also collected a pair of hits.
- Both
Emily Bloomfield and
Analiese Glawe threw 2.1 innings in the game for the Eagles, each player striking out one.
- Bethel kept rolling in game two, scoring in each half inning for an 8-0 win. The Eagles managed just one hit in the second contest, which came via leadoff hitter
Hanna Fisher.
- Kayla Simacek went the distance and was dominant, recording 13 of her 15 outs for strikeouts for Bethel in her one-hit effort.
Grace Pustina threw four innings for the Eagles, while Ludvigsen tossed the fifth.
UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will look to bounce back next weekend when it visits Dominican for a couple of NACC doubleheaders. The first of those is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bandits Stadium in Rosemont, Illinois.
