VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Men's Soccer team dropped a 4-0 NACC match against MSOE on Wednesday night, the team's home finale of the shortened "2020" season. The Eagles did celebrate the careers of three seniors –
Riley Moore,
Evan Oppermann, and
Noah Voss – before the match on Wednesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (4-1-0, 4-1-0 NACC) wasted little time in building a lead, scoring in the third minute of the match. Kollin McGregor battled in the box and found the ball with his left foot, beating the keeper for a 1-0 Raiders lead.
- Edgewood College (0-4-1, 0-4-1 NACC) kept the Raiders off the scoreboard the rest of the half, but the Eagles struggled generating anything on Wednesday night. Edgewood College finished with just three shots, two of those on goal. Both shots on goal came in the opening half.
- The Raiders would take on three second-half goals, two of those in the final four minutes of the match. Joe Schauer had the first of the second-half scores, scoring after Carson Albert ripped a shot off the crossbar and Schauer was there for the rebound.
-
Ty Bienema got his first career start at goalkeeper for the Eagles and finished the night with seven saves. MSOE outshot Edgewood College, 25-3.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The night was about the seniors for Edgewood College who have given their all to the program for the past four years. Oppermann, Moore, and Voss will be greatly missed for all they've done both on and off the pitch.
UP NEXT
- The Eagles will close the regular season with three away matches, all three rematches from earlier this season. The first of those will be at Lakeland on Saturday at 1 p.m.
