Eagles drop two at nationally ranked MSOE

MILWAUKEE – The Edgewood College Softball team went on the road to take on a nationally ranked opponent in No. 14 MSOE on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles battled the Raiders, but MSOE lived up to its ranking in picking up two victories. Game one ended up 7-2 in favor of MSOE, while game two was an 8-0 final.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the opener, Edgewood College (6-14) led 1-0 through three innings of play. The Eagles went up in the top of the third when Jenna Sanchez singled in Lauren Ludvigsen. Sanchez finished the game with two hits, while Ludvigsen and Haylee Kasuboski each doubled.

- MSOE (10-0) would take the lead with a two-run fourth and the Raiders would add five in the bottom of the fifth. The Eagles would add a second run in the top of the sixth when Morgan Koss singled in Sanchez.

- Lauren Ludvigsen got her first career start in the circle for the Eagles and performed well against a quality opponent in MSOE. Ludvigsen threw four innings and allowed two runs. Grace Pustina pitched two innings for the Eagles with three strikeouts. Sarah Grossman picked up the win for MSOE with a complete game effort, striking out eight.

- In game two, MSOE out-hit Edgewood College, 11-1, on its way to an 8-0 victory. Hanna Fisher finished with the lone hit of the contest for the Eagles.

- Emily Bloomfield threw 4.1 innings with Analiese Glawe getting the final two outs in the bottom of the fifth. Both of Glawe's outs were strikeouts. Emily Wiederholt threw four scoreless frames for the Raiders in moving her record to 3-0.  

THE OPPOSITION
- In game one, Lauren Stefanczyk led the Raiders at the plate with two hits, including a triple, and three RBI. Her triple came in the fifth inning and scored two runs, while Stefanczyk also singled in a run in the fourth.

- Stefanczyk added two more hits and drove in two more in game two, while Kara McKenna collected two hits and scored twice from the leadoff spot.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will host Marian in a non-conference doubleheader on Monday at Ceniti Park, beginning at 3 p.m.
