Eagles shut out Inferno, extend winning streak

VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Soccer team extended their winning streak to two in a 5-0 win over Alverno College. The Eagles struck twice in the first half and poured on three more goals in the second half to remain undefeated on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Leah Doucette got things going early for Edgewood College (2-0, 2-0 NACC) finding the back of the net in the 13th minute off a pass from Anja Von Klopp.

- With just three minutes remaining in the first half, Doucette made it 2-0 with her second goal of the season. The Eagles took the 2-0 lead into the half, outshooting Alverno College (0-2, 0-2 NACC) 18-5 in the first half.

- Just six minutes into the second period the Eagles added their third goal, coming from Aubrey Tarmann, her first of the season.

- Less than a minute later, Siobhan Gallagher gave the Eagles a 4-0 lead, sending the ball past the Inferno on a free kick from half field.

- Haley Wilkinson solidified the Eagles win in the 71st minute, finding the back of the net from close range.

- The Eagles defense kept the Inferno shot count low, with only six shots taken. Edgewood College took a whopping 40 shots in the contest, 22 of them on goal.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
- The 2-0, 2-0 NACC start to the season is the best start since the 2015 season where the Eagles also won two straight to get the season started.

- Doucette and Wilkinson scored their first collegiate goals on Wednesday night.
