Eagles swept by Falcons in home Doubleheader

VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Softball team was swept by Concordia University Wisconsin on Wednesday in a home twinbill at Ceniti Park in Verona. The Eagles took the Falcons to extra innings in game one before the Falcons erupted for eight runs in the eighth, resulting in a 10-2 final. Game two was controlled throughout by CUW, a 10-1 final in five innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the opener, Emily Bloomfield was outstanding for the Eagles in the circle, allowing zero earned runs through the first seven innings. Her effort sent the game to extra innings, but CUW plated eight runs in the top of the eighth to put the game away.

- Edgewood College (6-12) led 2-0 with a two-run second inning before Concordia Wisconsin (8-2) answered with two unearned runs in the third inning. The 2-2 score would hold until the eight-run frame.

- Bloomfield ended up throwing 7.2 innings and striking out four for the Eagles. At the plate, Morgan Koss collected two hits to pace the Edgewood College offense.

- The 2-2 tie was broken in the eighth when Kristen Fontana hit a solo home run to lead off the inning. The Falcons would keep it going with seven more runs in the frame.

- In game two, CUW scored twice in the first and four times in both the second and fourth frames for a 10-1 victory. Hanna Fisher scored the Eagles lone run in the bottom of the third.

- Fisher and Haylee Kasuboski tallied hits for the Eagles in the nightcap.
