VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Men's Soccer team fell 2-1 to Concordia University Wisconsin in double overtime. In the NACC battle, a strong offensive first half from the Eagles wasn't enough as the Falcons equaled the score in the second half and ultimately won with five seconds left in double overtime.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (0-2, 0-2 NACC) found an offensive spark in the first half on Saturday, scoring in the 42nd minute. Edwin Aguirre found the back of the net for the Eagles only goal of the afternoon.
- Concordia University Wisconsin (2-0, 2-0 NACC) evened the score in the 62nd minute, as Gilberto Gomez connected off a pass from Tyler Salvador on the right side of the box.
- Both teams struggled to find the net through the final minutes of the second half, with the Eagles going cold on offense. With just 11 seconds left in double overtime Gomez made a run past the Eagles defenders and found the back of the net with five seconds left to earn the win for the Falcons.
- Brendon Martin was strong in goal for the Eagles, recording 10 saves, six of which came in the first half.
