Softball swept by Dominican in league twinbill

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Edgewood College Softball team dropped a pair of games at Dominican University on Sunday, the second-consecutive day the two teams met in a NACC doubleheader. Dominican won the opener, 8-4, before posting a 12-2 final in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (5-7, 1-3 NACC) fell behind early in the opener as the Stars (3-1, 3-1 NACC) scored twice in the bottom of the first inning. Dominican took a 7-1 lead into the sixth inning when the Eagles had their best frame of the day, plating three runs.

- Lauren Ludvigsen paced the Eagles offense with two hits, including a double. Jenna Sanchez, Emily Meyer, Mackenzie Hoffman, and Mackenzie Doherty. scored runs for the Eagles.

- Grace Pustina delivered a complete-game effort for Edgewood College with two strikeouts. Allyson Dilday picked up the win for the Stars, striking out four in a complete-game effort of her own.

- In the second game, Dominican put up crooked numbers each of the four innings it batted in. After the Eagles went up 1-0 in the top of the first, the Stars scored 12-straight runs before the Eagles tacked on a run in its final at bat in the top half of the fifth. Dominican scored twice in the first to take the lead, then added four in the second, three in the third, and three more in the fourth.

- Hanna Fisher had a solid game two for the Eagles, going 2-for-3 with both of the Eagles runs. She tripled to lead off the game. Zoe Deeringer led Dominican at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI.

- Emily Bloomfield and Analiese Glawe each threw two innings for the Eagles, while Molly Stuhr went all five for Dominican.

- The Eagles will visit UW-Whitewater for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
